Money-Saving Moving Marysville Mom

It's not how much you have; it's what you do with what you have.

Life or Death February 19, 2009

If you had the knowledge of something that could save lives, wouldn’t you tell everyone you know? If this is truly a part of me and who I am, I need to share this with you, because I love you.

Most people in the world believe in God. Lots of people think that they are “right with God” or have their “peace with God” and that if they were to die today, they would go to heaven. Just because we believe in God, though, doesn’t mean that we are going to heaven. The Bible says that not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord”, will enter the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 7:21-23). Jesus will send them away and say that He never knew them. The Bible also says that If we deny Him, He will deny us (Matt. 10:33). We can deny Him in our various actions (the way we live our lives through what we do and say), and our thoughts. Having a relationship with God means that it permeates all parts of our lives. It can’t just be the Sunday morning part of our lives, but every moment. Being a Christian affects EVERY decision we make and thought we have.

Being a Christian doesn’t mean that I am perfect, because, all of you know me, and I am definitely not perfect!! I have lots to work on. Being human means that I am a sinner. Sin separates us from God. We all have the problem of sin. So what are we going to do about the problem of our sin?

God gave us His Son, “that whoever shall believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life”(John 3:16). Jesus is the bridge that God has given us to have a way to Him. Jesus was the perfect man and God at the same time and died to take the sins of the world on Himself, and we need to place our faith in Him.

It is easy to pay lip service to God without any action. The Bible says that faith without works is dead (James 2:17). So it is impossible to say that we have faith in God without doing something about it. That faith should change our lives. Our faith should be evident by what we do. Please don’t get me wrong. I am not saying that you earn your way to heaven. We can do nothing of ourselves to get there on our own. It is only through having true faith in Jesus Christ that will get us to heaven. The Bible says, “For by grace you have been saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the GIFT of God, not as a result of works that no one should boast”(Eph. 2:8-9).  God in His word tells us that we can’t earn our way to heaven; we can never do enough for God because mankind sins, and none of us is good enough on our own to get to heaven. This again, is why God gave us His Son, “that whoever shall believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life”(John 3:16). What the Bible is saying is that if we have true faith, we will want to do things for God and others because of our love for Him, not because those works might get us to heaven.

I know you have probably heard lots of different takes on the whole Christianity thing. If you are confused, you could try asking God to give you the wisdom to reveal the truth to you. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of  God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (Jas. 1:5). You have probably heard, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you” (Matt. 7:7). Maybe it is time for you to try it!

What is the next step? If you choose to give your life to Christ, you need to “confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Don’t delay. The Bible says, that “now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2). With this understanding, it affects ALL parts of your life, because it is your life.

Just because we may have, a long or short time ago, verbally made a commitment to Christ doesn’t mean that
we are Christians. The Bible says that we are to “Examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith” (2 Cor. 13:5). This is a continual process. Probably the most dangerous group of people are those who have grown up in the church and think we are “OK”. We can’t go to church enough to get us to heaven, yet, if we are Christians, we will desire fellowship, to learn about God through His Word, and be part of the body of Christ. We all are a part of the body of Christ as Christians. The Bible says to not forsake “the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching” (Heb. 10:25).

Please understand that it is only out of love that I tell you this. I am sure that you would try to save my life if I was in a circumstance that may bring me death. This is the same circumstance, and I can’t keep this information to myself. If I this is true, I think you can see why I
would share it. I owe it to you. I don’t want you to have a Christ-less eternity. And if this divides us, it doesn’t change the fact that I need to share this with you.

For those of you who know Christ, I hope this encourages you in your walk with the Lord, and feel free to use it to share with others. If heaven and hell truly exist, and if God exists, meaning that there will be people who die without God, we have a job to do by telling the world about the saving power of Jesus Christ. As Jesus ascended to heaven, He said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo,
I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matt. 28:19-20).

I hope that you will consider the words in this important page. I post this purely in love. Consider making a decision for Christ. True faith will never be disappointed.

Love,

Sonja
